Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) of Advance HE
June 2025
I am thrilled to share that I have been awarded Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) of Advance HE. While I had a list of activities complied more than 18 months ago and researched my approach to leadership, it was only in the writing, reflecting, gathering evidence, and discussing with colleagues that it all came together.. What I realised, in looking at myself through a ‘thought leadership’ lens (Brosseau, 2013), was a reorientation of what I had previously thought of as passive activity (accepting invitations to present or teach, for example) towards an active, purposeful and positive turn: it is in fact my leadership and influence that attracts people to me. This has been a deeply rewarding and transformational shift in my perception of my practice.
I am grateful that this programme recognises wide-ranging forms of educational leadership, and huge thanks to Graham Barton and Dr John O'Reilly for references, and to many colleagues and peers for writing valuable testimonies evidencing impact, and to my sister Andra who is always with me and would be so proud.🦋 Thank you also to Karen Matthewman and Carys Kennedy for guidance, dedicated writing days and fellowship workshops, and to Dr Christie Johnson, Shura Joseph-Gruner, and Sukhwinder Sagoo-Reddy for mentorship and revision.
Thank you Dr Austra Avotiņa, James Blake, Romero Bryan, Elīna Elere, Ingūna Elere, Sicgmone Kludje, Chris Koning, Sebastian May, Eleanor Parker, Saffie Pluck, Joe Richardson, Jhinuk Sarkar, and others for generous words.
